Precious Wonders

The folds of the curtain rise slowly,
Unevenly;
A light creeps in.
Every voice is held inside a throat.
Clouds begin to smile -
Subtly, at first,
Then wider, as their bellies warm against the rising sun.
Plump confections take on a flaming red glow,
Then pink,
Then every color all at once
As a blaze explodes onto the stage.
The sky wakes up with fireworks,
Streamers flying in every direction,
And the world comes into view.
A choir of birds, of dragonflies,
Of everything that has lived and breathed
Since the fifth day of creation -
All rejoice in song.
We call this dawn.
It happens every single morning.
Rain touches my skin,
And trickles down.
Clouds never stop moving.
A rainbow is beautiful -
Even though it didn’t have to be.
A newborn baby’s smile
Is pure joy.
My lover’s breath is a miracle.
Her heartbeat is a miracle.
Love is a miracle.
If you cannot see the beauty, it's not because it isn't there.
If you cannot feel joy, it's not because it isn't there.
If you do not find love, it’s not because it isn’t there.
