Armor: PREMIERES JUNE 20

"Armor" is a story about a man and a woman on their wedding night, who are looking ahead at the life they will share - with some apprehensions. It will be my first short animated film, based on the very first story I posted on my blog back in January of 2019. My wife, Amelia, is helping out with the music.

We are going to release the movie on June 20 at 10 am, on YouTube!

Sha'ar Shenisgar

"Sha'ar Shenisgar" was released in February 2019, as the first and only music video by the Levoná Ensemble.
It was shot in one day at Harley Goat Farm in Pescadero, and edited at home on my computer.
My infinite thanks to Dee Harley, the farm owner, who let us use her old barn while she was away visiting her family, Niloofar Asadi for her guidance and support, and to Sam Javadi for his incredible talent with a camera.

The song is based on a medieval Sephardic text, written by Shlomo Ibn Gavirol in Spain, in the 11th century. At face value it is about two lovers who have separated, and are contemplating each other and the possibility of reconciliation. In its deeper meanings, the poem is a spiritual allegory for the relationship between God and his people, and the concept of redemption. The title line means: "A gate that has closed - rise up, and open it!"
